Louis Vuitton, USA News (Mexico City): Ahead of the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix 2026, scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 1 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Louis Vuitton has introduced a custom-tailored trophy trunk for the race. Formula 1 racing began in 1950, evolving into the world’s most prestigious motorsport competition and a popular global annual sports series.
As an official partner of Formula 1 since 2025, Louis Vuitton brings its distinct identity to the Mexico City Grand Prix. The newly revealed trunk acts as an extension of both the competition’s identity and the Maison’s codes, alongside circuit signage featuring brand graphics throughout Mexico City.
Design and Craftsmanship Details
Covered in the signature Louis Vuitton Monogram, the design integrates Damier stripes inspired by the finish line. These converge to form a “V” in green and red, paying homage to the Mexican flag while symbolizing both victory and the Vuitton name. Additionally, the brand introduced the Victory patch, a new feature for Formula 1 trophy trunks. Inspired by traditional vintage travel labels, it records the winning driver’s initials as a commemorative token.
This bespoke piece builds upon a century-old tradition linking Louis Vuitton with motorsport. The trunk was handcrafted in the historic atelier in Asnières-sur-Seine, France, where Georges Vuitton, son of the founder, created the first automobile trunks in 1897.
Historical Legacy and Sports Partnership
Georges Vuitton developed a weather-resistant material known as Vuittonite, replacing leather to safeguard belongings during early motor travels. This innovation contributed to the evolution of the modern Louis Vuitton canvas.
Operating under the motto “Victory travels in Louis Vuitton,” the brand has maintained long-standing connections with major sporting events. Past collaborations range from the America’s Cup in 1983 to the FIFA World Cup, the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and now Formula 1.
